Rapist beats up victim's family who tried to lodge complaint against him

The family members of a rape victim were beaten up when they tried to lodge a complaint against the rapist on Saturday.
The attacker, who allegedly raped the girl, came back to victim's house again and beat up her mother, elder brother and ransacked the house. The police reached the spot after the attacker had fled.
The family members of victim lodged an FIR with the local police station. An investigation was initiated on the basis of the complaint.
Police came to know that the attacker was one Shyamal Roy, a local resident. The girl was alone in her house as her mother and elder brother had gone out of town for some work. Roy allegedly raped her at the house and escaped the spot.
The girl did not say anything to her mother and elder brother out of fear. But her mother noticed something wrong with the girl's behaviour and forced her to come out with the truth.
The girl broke down in front of her family and said that Roy was the culprit. Her mother informed the matter to the neighbours and decided to lodge complaint against Roy. One Chapan Mondal, who is nephew of Roy, heard that victim's family was going to lodge a complaint at the police station and promptly informed his maternal uncle. Roy went the victim's house again and beat up her mother and brother and threatened them to stay away from the police station. He even threatened to kill the girl.
The neighbours called up the police but the cops were unable to capture the culprits as the uncle-nephew duo had fled by then. "We have started an investigation. We hope that the culprits will be arrested soon," said a police officer.
