After CM's initiative, Murshidabad newborn suffering from gallbladder stone to be treated at NRS

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken initiative for the treatment of a newborn girl from Murshidabad who has been suffering from gallbladder stone since her birth.
Banerjee has instructed the senior officials of the Health department to ensure that the family members of the victim do not face any problem regarding the treatment of the baby. It has been learnt that the baby will be brought to the NRS Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The district administration has also been asked to make all the necessary arrangements so that the baby can be shifted to the NRS Medical College and Hospital. Senior district administrative officials on Thursday visited the house of the victim and had gone through the documents relating to the treatment of the baby girl.
Marufa Bibi, wife of Jahangir Alam, a resident of Basantapur village of Domkal was admitted to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital where she gave birth to a girl child on June 20. The doctors in the hospital found that the newborn had been suffering from gallbladder stone since her birth. The doctors also suggested Jahangir to take the baby to a city hospital. The husband, however, failed to bring the baby to the city for treatment as her mother has been suffering from some complications. The family members of the victim consulted some local villagers and some political leaders seeking suggestions on how he could heal the little baby.
Some people advised Jahangir to seek the help of the Chief Minister who extends all her support to the people especially when one is in dire need of it. It is difficult for Jahangir who works at a local shop to bear the cost of her treatment. After coming to know about the matter, Jahangir wrote a letter to the Chief Minister stating the details and sought her help in this regard.
According to the doctors, a delay in treatment may turn to be fatal for the baby as the stone will get bigger day by day. After considering the seriousness of the matter, the Chief Minister's Office has sought a detailed report about the treatment of the patient from Murshidabad district administration. The district magistrate later instructed the Block Development Officer to visit the patient's house to go through the papers in detail. The district administration will submit a report stating the condition of the patient and other related details.
It may be mentioned that a surgery was recently conducted on five-year-old Rishin Banerjee, a patient suffering from Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) at a private hospital in the city under the Sishu Sathi scheme, a brainchild project of the Chief Minister. The fund for his treatment has been provided by the state government.
