Three armed robbers arrested

The police arrested three armed robbers from Asansol on Tuesday night who assembled to loot a house of a trader. "Those robbers had assembled there with firearms. A patrolling jeep challenged them there when they tried to escape from there. But policemen captured them there," said a police officer. Police said Biki Prasad (25), Jitendra Raut (32) and Tarun Kumar (26) were produced before the court. The investigators further said that two pipe guns, eight rounds of bullets and two knives were seized from the accused persons.

Police learnt that this gang had earlier beaten up two employees of a jewellery shop and looted gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh in the town. The CCTV of the shop were damaged by them during the incident. The investigators had to call up finger print experts to collect the fingerprint to get a clue about the robbers. Police sources said that they broke the locks and entered the shop to steal jewelleries from the showcases. They hit the CCTV with bamboo rods and took the hard disks before leaving the place.
