'Cancer doc' had medicine bottles with his initials in his clinic: Police

Bidhannagar police on Tuesday seized a few medicine bottles from the clinic of Aradeep Chatterjee, the fake cancer specialist in Lake Town who was recently arrested.
According to a senior police officer, the labels of the medicine bottles carry the initials of the name of the accused. All these medicines are premium therapy medicines as it was mentioned in the labels attached to them. Police raided the Critical Cancer Management Research Centre where the accused used to treat his patients.
A senior police officer of Bidhannagar Commissionarate said that the medicine bottles carry the initials of his name. One bottle carried the alphabets 'ARA' while the other had 'D'. Labels attached to other bottles were 'EEP' and 'TTER'. The composition of these medicines was not mentioned on the labels of these bottles that have been sent to the laboratory for examination. It has been learnt that the police recovered a register containing the names of the patients and their details from his clinic.
Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Department of Bidhannagar, Santosh Pandey said: "We have seized some medicines from his clinic. We are yet to examine them."
Meanwhile, Chatterjee's police custody has been extended by the Bidhannagar court for three more days.
The fake doctor allegedly used to treat patients pretending as a doctor who specialized in cancer treatment. He used to run this cancer clinic with his father on S K Deb Road, Lake Town, claiming that he had an MD degree.
Police arrested the accused from his clinic a few days ago after he failed to provide documents to prove his credentials. His clinic is a 10-bedded centre. Police came to know in the course of investigation that the accused father is a senior homoeopath and he started the clinic many years ago.
