The cases of fake doctors doesn't just seem to end. Nadia police have arrested a fake dentist who has been practicing at his chamber at Gorachandtala area without any valid registration for several years.
Police said that the accused, Swapan Sarkar, has been treating patients for many years in the area as a Bachelor of Dental Surgeon. He used to use BDS degree on his prescription and put up a signboard claiming the bachelor's degree. It may be mentioned here that the district police have earlier arrested two fake doctors from Hashkhali and Chapra where the accused used to practice as specialised doctors.
The police came to know about the fake dentist few days ago and started keeping a tab. The accused is a resident of Tatla area under Chakdah police station but he used to run a chamber at Gorachandtala. The cops raided his chamber on Saturday night and arrested him after he failed to produce any supporting documents in favour of his claim.
It has been learnt that the accused broke down in the face of prolonged interrogation and admitted that he never did a BDS course and neither did he have a proper registration from the Dental Council of India. He has been remanded to police custody after being produced before a district court.
During the investigation police came to know that the accused had opened chambers at Birnagar and Rasullapur areas as well.
In a separate incident, Howrah police have arrested a doctor on charges of molesting a patient. The victim was admitted to the Howrah Jaiswal Hospital with fever and abdomen pain. She alleged that the accused touched her inappropriately while she had come for a checkup. When the woman opposed, the doctor sought an apology from her. The victim later informed the matter to her husband. The couple lodged a complaint on the basis of which the doctor has been arrested.
