Inebriated man shoots woman dead, injures 2

An intoxicated man shot a woman to death at a marriage ceremony in Asansol on Saturday night. Two others received bullet injuries and are fighting for their lives in the hospital.
The invitees and the people gathered in the marriage ceremony caught the culprit Alok Sahi (32) and thrashed him. The accused was later taken to police station. Police said that the incident took place at Kakorshol in Asansol. The accused person pointed his gun at a spot where 50-60 people were dancing in a marriage ceremony and fired thrice. Some invitees gathered there heard the sound and saw a man was lying on the floor. The man was later identified as Kishan Bauri — one of the family members. But most of the invitees were still dancing as they thought that the loud sound emanated from firecrackers.
The second and third bullets were shot after a few seconds and one of the bullets hit the chest of a woman, identified as Anita Barui. The last bullet grazed passed the waist of a teenage girl Lakshmi Barui.
"The invitees and family members took the victims to Asansol District Hospital. Anita Bauri was declared brought dead while Kishan Barui and Lakshmi Barui were admitted in critical conditions," said a police officer. The family members later shifted Kishan and Lakshmi Barui to a private hospital in Durgapur. The investigators learnt that the accused person was a friend of Kishan Bauri, who had invited him to come to the wedding.
"It was the wedding of a family member of Kishan in which he invited Sahi to come. Sahi and Kishan work as security guards in a company. But it is still unclear why Sahi brought a gun to a marriage ceremony. We suspect that he had a prior plan to shoot his friend," said a police officer. The investigators have also found that Sahi had a criminal past. Recently he was involved in a fight with Kishan over some work related issues. "Kishan's family members did not want Sahi to attend the marriage ceremony and requested Kishan not to invite him. But Kishan had paid no heed to his family and invited Sahi," the officer added.
