Wife found hanging from fan; father-in-law, husband arrested

Mystery shrouds the death of a housewife whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
The incident took place at Chora village of Andal on Friday morning triggering tension in the locality. The victim Priyanka Mukherjee (22), a resident of Kenda village in Jamuria got married to one Sanat
Mukherjee, a resident of Chora village around one and half years ago. She had delivered a girl child six months ago.
Police have held victim's father-in-law and husband in this connection so far. The family members of the victim alleged that she was murdered and later her body was hung from the ceiling fan so that it appeared to be a case of suicide. The victim's relatives lodged a police compliant in this regard and demanded action against the accused.
The family members of the victim went to a hospital and found that Priyanka was lying dead and this led a scuffle between her family members and her in-laws. Some people including the victim's younger brother were injured in the incident. A chaos broke out at the hospital following the incident. The hospital authorities had to call police to check the violence. Police later brought the situation under control.
The family members of the victim alleged that she had been tortured at her in-laws' house since her marriage. Victim's husband and in-laws used to pressurise her for money. They also alleged that they used to torture asking her to bring money from her parental house. Recently, Priyanka was planning to celebrate the rice ceremony of her daughter. For this, her in-laws were giving pressure to her for money.
The family members have also alleged that as she denied to bring money from her parental house, her husband and in-laws killed her and later hung her body from the ceiling fan.
Police have started a probe in this regard.
