Fire breaks out in surgical ward of CNMC Hospital

A fire broke out at the surgical ward of the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning triggering panic among patients.
The staff members of the hospital spotted smoke billowing out of the fifth floor housing the surgical ward at around 7.40 am and informed the matter to the fire brigade. The room was soon covered with black smoke and it had become difficult for the people to enter the room.
The staff members of the hospital and the security personnel immediately started the rescue operation and evacuated the patients who were inside the ward. As many as three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flame.
