Clash between real estate groups in Palm Avenue, 10 injured

Tension ran high at Palm Avenue area following a clash that broke out between two groups involved in real estate business.
The trouble broke out on Wednesday night and it continued till Thursday morning. The group members set some motorcycles on fire during the clash. Police said that it was a result of a long-standing fight between two groups led by one Sekhawat Ali, alias Juber, and Sunwar who often involve in clashes. The local residents alleged that Sekhawat was beaten up by his rival gang members with a wicket in front of the policemen who reached the spot to bring the situation under control. He has been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries where his condition is stated to be critical.
The gang members also damaged some cars parked on the roadside. A huge contingent of police force rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. The local residents staged a demonstration in front of the senior police officers demanding action against the gang members who often create troubles in the area. The local people on Thursday morning alleged that the police resorted to lathi-charge in which some local residents received injuries.
They also alleged that police failed to check the violence. Some of the policemen allegedly turned mute spectators when a group member was badly beaten up by the members of his rival group.
Local people told the police that a quarrel broke out between the two groups over promoting works on Wednesday night and it soon turned into a scuffle. After being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The trouble again broke out on Thursday morning when some gang members attacked the members of the other group. Some people from both the groups have been injured in the incident.
As there was a tension in the area, a police picket has been set up. Police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection so far. They have
started a detailed probe and raids are being conducted to nab the culprits.
