State Cabinet congratulates CM on winning UN Award

The entire Cabinet on Wednesday congratulated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the success of Kanyashree Scheme that won the first prize in the United Nations (UN) Public Service Award under the Asia Pacific category at The Hague.

This was the first Cabinet meeting after she returned from The Netherlands where she received the award.

The state Finance minister Amit Mitra, who had accompanied the Chief Minister in the Netherlands tour, said in Nabanna on Wednesday: "There were Central government ministers from 12 countries, along with our Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee at the United Nations (UN) conference on June 23.

"The head of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) programme of the UN had handed over the memento for Kanyashree to the Chief Minister. It was really a proud moment for the entire state and the country."

"In Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, each and every Cabinet member congratulated the Chief Minister. Three resolutions have been passed on Wednesday including one congratulating the Chief Minister for taking the state to the top of the world."

The second resolution was passed congratulating the outgoing Chief Secretary Basudeb Banerjee for his outstanding work in the past few years. The third resolution was passed welcoming the new Chief Secretary Malay Kumar De.
