Bangladeshi held from airport with fake passport

Police arrested a Bangladeshi national from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport on Sunday night on charges of carrying a fake passport.

Mohammad Hidayatullah, the accused was going to Bangladesh from Mumbai via Kolkata. He was interrogated by the officers and produced before the court. The officers examined the important documents of the accused person and found that he was carrying a fake passport. Later, the accused person was called up for primary interrogation but he made some confusing statements there.

The investigators learnt that he came to city on Sunday evening from Mumbai for catching connecting flights to Bangladesh. An investigation was initiated by the Bidhannagar City Police to know that how did he get the fake Bangladeshi passport. It may be recalled that police detained three foreigners from NSCBI Airport on April 19 on charges of carrying fake passports with them. The foreigners were interrogated by the investigators, who later found that two of them were Sri Lankan nationals and one was from Bangladesh.

One Nepalese national Asima Chetri was arrested on similar charges at the NSCBI Airport while she was going to Kuala Lumpur via Kolkata a few months back.
