Dipak Rai, the accused domestic help was also missing from the house since Saturday evening. The parents of the girl — Pankaj Mondal and his wife Rumpa found the lock of the almirah broken with the jewellery box missing.

Pankaj and Rumpa lodged an FIR with the Sonarpur police station on Saturday night after repeated attempts to find the girl. They alleged that the domestic help had not only looted the jewellery from their house but had also abducted their daughter. "We have initiated a case.

A team has gone to Bihar to arrest the accused person," said a police officer. The police will also investigate if Rai forcefully took the girl along with him. "We have to check if the girl was kidnapped or if she had left the house on her own accord with the accused person," the officer added.

"We will arrest Rai on the basis of the complaint that he broke the almirah and ran away with jewellery. We will also ask the girl how the incident took place that evening," the officer said.

The investigator learnt that the parents of the girl had gone out somewhere when the incident took place.

There was nobody except the domestic help and the girl.

Rai's phone was switched off when Pankaj and Rumpa tried to contact him.

"We are trying to get the tower location of the mobile phone that Dipak Rai uses. The tower location was last found in Bihar. We are hopeful that he will be arrested soon," the officer added.
