Body of unidentified youth found floating in Thakurpukur canal

Mystery shrouds the death of an unidentified youth whose body was found in a canal at Thakurpukur in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday morning. Police said that the local people saw the body when they came out of their houses in the morning when they promptly informed the police. The body was sent for an autopsy and the police initiated a probe.

Police suspect that the youth was killed somewhere and later, her body was dumped in the canal. The miscreants chose the area to dump the body as the place was deserted and poorly illuminated.

There were several injury marks all over her body which suggest that she had tried to restrict the miscreants when they attempted to kill her.

The police contacted all other police stations situated close to Thakurpukur to find out if any complaint of a missing youth was lodged.

But they found nothing as such which made the task of identification of the youth tougher. In another similar incident in East Midnapore, the body of a 25-year-old youth was found beside National Highway 41 on Tuesday night.
