The state government has taken a major step of implementing online Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
A three-day long training programme on e-HRMS for 90 police officers and ministerial staff of the West Bengal Police has been organised at the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) from Tuesday.
The trainees will be undergoing both theoretical and practical training on how to implement the e-HRMS properly. The training programme is going on from 11 am to 5 pm everyday.
E-HRMS is a part of the Integrated Finance Management System (IFMS). The step to introduce e-HRMS in all the departments of the state government has been taken to felicitate switch over from present manual process practiced in various offices of the state government to a web-based online environment that would immensely help the employees and officials.
With implementation of e-HRMS, an employee can access details about his salary and leaves online. At the same time, facilities like travel allowance bill, bill of
general provident fund and other loans of an employee will be received at the treasury through the online system.
This comes at the time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the concerned officials to give stress on making the system online for fast execution of a
work. A separate e-governance department has also been set up.
The state Finance department had earlier issued a notification directing all the departments to "complete the mapping of stakeholders sub module" of the e-HRMS by May 22. But following request of different departments, the time has been extended till June 30. Thus, no claims could be made without going through e-HRMS from July 1 onwards.
The effort to turn the entire process paperless will not only be helpful in maintaining proper records but the task would also become faster helping the employees to get their benefits without any delay. The process will also ensure further transparency in the entire process.
