Dead newborn found from waste bin in Bongaon

A body of a newborn was found from a waste bin at Bongaon in North 24 Parganas on Monday. It is the second such incident in the area within a month.

The local residents saw the body which was dumped in the waste bin. The body was wrapped in cloth and kept inside the bin.

The residents along with cleaning staff spotted the body and promptly informed the matter to the police.

It was early in the morning when a police jeep reached the spot. Police officers took the body to a local hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The doctors informed the police that some injury marks were found on the body. Later, a team of investigators reached the spot again and started to question the locals if they knew anything about the newborn. Most of the local residents denied having any knowledge about the incident. Some of them said, the body could have been kept in the waste bin late at night.

"We have initiated a case. The local residents informed us about some important points regarding this case," a police officer said.
