Nine held for looting ATM

In a major breakthrough, the Hooghly police on early Sunday morning arrested nine miscreants who were involved in looting money from an ATM machine. Police also recovered arms and ammunitions from the accused.
Acting on a tip-off, the police officers raided Pachlaki area under Rishra police station on Delhi road early Sunday morning and arrested the accused. Police also seized a car from them. Police recovered a pipe gun, three rounds of cartridges, four choppers, chloroform, knives, sprays, toy guns and various equipment that were used for dacoity. Police came to know in the investigation that the accused used to loot various ATM machines. Police said that the accused were all residents of Serampore, Rishra, Konnagar and Howrah and are aged between 30 and 35. The accused were involved in various dacoity incidents that had taken place in Hooghly. Last year, two ATM machines were looted in Uttarpara and Konnagar. Police suspect that the accused were also involved in these two incidents. They have told the police that they used to loot other districts. The accused are Subhro Mukherjee, Anup Kujur, Md Riyaz, ganesh Chouhan, Subrata Kole, Saibal Roy, Md Sabir, Biswajit Hazra and Gopal.
