Youth arrested on charges of killing his brother

Police arrested a youth on Saturday night on charges of killing his brother at Sulangari in Rajarhat. Cops said that the accused person has been identified as one Arup Mondal (20), who hacked his brother to death.

The investigators learnt that the assailant was in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. An altercation began with his brother Swarup Mondal (18) and they started fighting at the courtyard of the house.

"Swarup told his brother to leave the house immediately. But his brother Arup attacked him with a sharp weapon and hacked his brother to death," said a police officer.

The neighbours took injured Swarup to a private hospital off VIP Road but he was declared brought dead. "We have initiated a case. We will interrogate the accused person and his family members as well," said a police officer.
