Family members of a patient who died of alleged medical negligence at Canning Sub-divisional Hospital on Sunday staged demonstration.
Senior police officers reached the spot and brought the situation under control after pacifying the mob. A police personnel said that Dipali Mondal, a resident of Jibantala in Canning, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after she complained of labour pain. She delivered a girl child later in the evening following which her condition started deteriorating.

The demonstration was halted after the police assured the protestors that the matter would be looked into.
