3 arrested for making fake Aadhaar, voter cards

Police arrested three persons from a house at North 24 Parganas' Thakurnagar on Friday morning on charges of making fake Aadhaar and voter identity cards.

The accused persons started making fake Aadhaar and voter cards from a house at Thakurnagar's Shimulpur and the cops seized machines in which those cards were made.

Tapan Roy, Naren Roy and Subho Biswas, the accused persons, were interrogated and later they were produced before a court.

The investigators learnt that Tapan Roy, the owner of the house rented a room to Subho and Naren. The duo started making fake Aadhaar and voter identity cards. They even supplied them among their customers. "We have detained Rumana Biwi, a customer from the spot. She is also being interrogated," said a police source.

"We had specific information that fake Aadhaar and voter cards are being prepared in Tapan Roy's house. We raided the house and arrested them," the source added.

It will be recalled that police arrested six Bangladeshi nationals and three Indians from North 24 Parganas' Baguiati area on the charge of making fake Aadhaar cards a few months ago. The accused were produced before the Barasat District Court and remanded to police custody for four days. The accused were living in a house at Baguiati. The owner of the house, Dipankar Mondal, had rented out the house to the Bangladeshis.

A senior officer of North 24 Parganas police said that many people used to work with a private company Karvi-Sankalp which had taken the franchise for creating Aadhaar database for some places in the state. They were using the machines in which database of Aadhaar can be made.
