It may be mentioned that a four-member team of CID officers visited the district to interrogate the senior health officials in the Nagrakata block. The employees of the block health office were also interrogated by the CID officers. The CID officers on Wednesday had interrogated a representative of the District Magistrate and received some information relating to the incident.

The police arrested Snehasish Chakraborty, a fake doctor who was attached to Dhumpara healthcare centre in Dooars on May 10. The accused was arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by the Chief Medical Officer of Health in the district. The next day, the CID had taken him in their custody. The investigating officer came to know that the accused had been appointed on contractual basis. They also found that the accused had produced a fake certificate brought from Bhagalpur in Bihar during his appointment in the health centre. He also used to treat patients at various tea gardens in Alipurduar and used to practice in his chamber where he put up his sign board carrying an MBBS degree against his name. He used to claim to be a specialist doctor. The CID officers are interrogating into another incident in which Jagannath Sarkar, another fake doctor was arrested recently.
