Two fake doctors under scanner in Durgapur

Two fake doctors were found to be practicing at Durgapur in West Burdwan. One of these two fake doctors used to run a clinic where abortions were illegally performed by the accused.

The district administration is preparing a detailed report on the whereabouts of these two accused doctors which will sent to the state Health department. One of the accused has been absconding since the matter came to light.

A senior administrative official of West Burdwan said that stern action will be taken against these two accused who were allegedly practicing without a valid registration number. Both the accused used to run their chambers at
Raghunathpur area of Durgapur. The accused S R Sur who is actually a homeopathy doctor used to practice as an MBBS doctor.

He used to write MBBS against his name on the signboard that was put up on the wall outside his chamber. The district police had raided his chamber and collected many important materials including a catheter and anesthetic drugs. The investigation officers are certain that the accused used to perform abortion illegally.

A senior official from Durgapur Municipal Corporation and the senior sub-divisional officials of Durgapur visited the chamber. The accused doctor has been at large since the incident came to light. The police and the district administration were carrying out a probe in this regard. Police said that four persons used to work under the accused at his chamber and the visitors were all women.

A senior administrative official in the district said that they have collected some information and are also preparing a report which will soon be submitted to the Chief Medical Officer of Health in the district.

Another accused Santosh Rajak who is also believed to be fake, failed to produce any valid registration number to the police. Rajak had also been practicing as an alopath doctor in Main Gate area of
Durgapur. Police said that the accused used to sell medicines without a drug license. The district administration also received complaints against the two accused.

"A probe is being conducted in this regard. A report will soon be submitted to the senior officials of the state Health department. Action will be taken against the accused if found guilty," a senior
administrative official in the district said.
