Patient dies due to medical negligence, kin ransacks hospital

Family members of a patient, who died due to alleged medical negligence, beat up a doctor and ransacked a private nursing home at Phoolbagan on Friday morning.
Dr Jagadish Prasad, who was beaten up, received severe head injuries and was admitted to a private hospital off EM Bypass. Four persons were detained in this connection. Police said that a 45-year-old man, identified as Amarnath Jaiswal, was admitted on June 6. He was admitted to the nursing home as he was suffering from a heart ailment. He also had other complex health issues including high diabetes.
Jaiswal died on Thursday night on Thursday. His family members went to the nursing home and demanded an explanation from the authorities of the healthcare establishment regarding the cause of Jaiswal's death.
The deceased's family members and neighbours were not satisfied with the explanation given by the authorities and engaged into an altercation. The mob suddenly started breaking valuables in the ground floor office room of the nursing home, including window panes and doors. Dr Prasad came in to intervene into the matter but got beaten up. The security personnel of the nursing home and some locals rescued Dr Prasad.
Cops from Phoolbagan police station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The police detained four persons from the spot on charges of damaging the property of the nursing home and beating up the doctor.
