The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday summoned Iqbal Ahmed, deputy Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), in connection with the Narada sting operation.
Ahmed has been asked to turn up at the office of the Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI in Nizam Palace on Saturday. He will be going to the CBI office at around 11 am.
On Thursday morning, CBI officers went to the house of Ahmed with some documents. He was not in his house when the CBI officers went to his residence.
He returned home after being contacted by his family members over phone and signed some documents as asked by the CBI officers.
The Calcutta high court had handed over the probe to the CBI. The investigating agency had interrogated Samuel earlier in this connection.
Sources said that while questioning Ahmed, CBI officers will be verifying the statement given by Samuel.
It may be mentioned that the High Court on Tuesday directed the CBI to probe whether Samuel had offered money to the leaders on his own or the ministers had asked for money from him.
Ahmed was once earlier questioned by officers of the Kolkata Police in connection with the case in July 2016.
