CU forced to cancel 2nd year Bengali (H) exam after question paper goof-up

The second year BA examination for Bengali Honors under the University of Calcutta has been cancelled following some goof-up in the question paper.

The university authorities had to cancel the examination within an hour of commencement due to some complaints regarding the question paper. The second year Bengali Honours students were writing their fourth paper. As the examination started, the candidates complained that they had been given the third paper once again and this created confusion among the students.

The students immediately informed the invigilator, saying that they had already written the third paper. The invigilators went through the question paper and informed the matter to the concerned department. University authorities later examined the question paper and after thorough scrutiny, the university decided to cancel the examination. The university authorities are yet to decide the next date for the examination when the fourth paper will be written.

University authorities have started a probe in this regard to look into how the goof up had taken place.

According to a senior official of the University of Calcutta, the date of the next examination will soon be announced by the authorities. The university is also looking into why the students were given the third paper, which had already been conducted, once again.

A senior university official said that they were examining if there had been any negligence on the part of any university official or employee. Action will be taken against those who are found guilty in this connection. A probe has been initiated, the official said.
