Police recover kidnapped baby from Bandel Stn

A baby who had been kidnapped from Jagatdal in North 24 Parganas on Sunday evening was rescued by police within 24 hours. The baby was recovered from Bandel Station in Hooghly on Monday. Anita Devi, who had come to Jagatdal from Rajasthan to visit her parents, met Bijay Kumar, her husband's friend on Saturday. He followed Anita in a toto. When Anita was returning from her aunt's place, Bijay fled with the child while she was distracted. She lodged a complaint with Jagatdal police station. Police tracked Bijay's mobile and asked Anita to assure him that she would fulfill his demands for cash and jewellery. The police arrested him and rescued the baby when he came to collect the ransom at Bandel station.
