Bodies of students who drowned recovered

Bodies of three school students who drowned in the Damodar river on Sunday were recovered on Monday. The victims, Nayan Goswami, Subhajit Bauri and Subhajit Sur along with three others were taking a bath in Damodar river on Sunday evening when these three friends were suddenly swept away in the current.

Police said that one of three victims was drowning when the other two tried to save him and both of them drowned in the process. The local residents and police administration started a search operation on Sunday night but failed. Divers were engaged by the local administration but the attempt turned futile.

A speed boat was deployed and the disaster management team also swung into action. The search operation continued throughout the night but none could trace the victims who were Class XII students. On Monday morning, the bodies Nayan Goswami and Subhajit Bauri were found floating in the river while the body of Subhajit Sur was later found in the river.
