The coastal districts in West Bengal might receive heavy rainfall along with strong winds in the next 24 hours due to the presence of cyclonic storm 'Mora' in the Bay of Bengal, the Met office said on Monday.
The storm, presently situated approximately 500 km southeast of West Bengal coastline and around 330 km southwest of Chittagong in Bangladesh, is expected to hit the neighbouring country by Tuesday afternoon, a weather official said.
"Some coastal districts of West Bengal including North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Nadia would see heavy rainfall as the storm passes by. However, it would not have any long lasting effect on the state's weather," he said.
