CBSE results: Websites display 'result waiting', cause panic among students

Lazy Sunday mornings went for a toss as many teenagers, their parents, and even their neighbours were seen anxiously awaiting the CBSE XII board results.

Raksha Gopal, a student of Amity International School in Noida, scoring a 99.6 percent became the all-India topper.

Bhoomi Sawant of Chandigarh, closely followed her with 99.4 percent got the second position.

But in Kolkata, the scenario was pretty dismal. For most students appearing in the examination from Kolkata schools found it difficult to download their results as a result of which, there was immense panic and anxiety. The result could not be displayed and in most of the cases it showed "result waiting" after the students entered their roll numbers, school numbers and centre numbers respectively.

"I tried to get my result by putting the details in three websites. But three of them failed to provide me my result which I was supposed to download," said a student from a central Kolkata school.

Like the previous years, this year too the CBSE had put its results on the Internet with the technical support of National Informatics Centre (NIC) which comes under the department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The students were supposed to get their results downloaded from the websites provided by the board.

Soon after the incident, school authorities contacted CBSE conveying them the problem. But no solution was reached.

"It is really frustrating to see toppers on the television celebrating their results while we cannot even see it. My parents are also tensed," said a student of South Kolkata.
Till the evening, South Point High School in Kolkata got the results of 270 students. Results of 44 students were still to show in the websites. Eight students from South Point High School got marks above 95 percent. Debaditya Pramanik, a student of Birla High School got 97.6 percent in Science. Another student, Rishab Somani from Birla High School got the same percentage in Commerce.

"The school has informed me about my son's outstanding results. The good news came in the afternoon. He will make his career in Engineering," Paramita Pramanik, Debaditya's mother.

Rishab's father Rishi Somani wants his son to decide his career path on his own. "It is up to him what he will choose. He will only decide," Rishab's father said. Till 8 pm on Sunday, most of the schools in Kolkata and district towns were unable to access results of some of their students.

Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir on Sunday even issued a notification for the anxious students and parents waiting for results. The notification said: "The Bhubaneswar region Class XII results have not been uploaded completely. The uploading of marks will be completed shortly. So kindly bear with the situation. Do not panic."
