'Even if Cong, CPI(M) go up for auction, no one will buy them'

Partha Chatterjee, state minister for Parliamentary Affairs on Friday came down heavily on the CPI(M) and Congress saying: "Even if both parties go up for auction, there will be no buyers."
He was reacting after both Congress and CPI(M) MLAs skipped the Assembly session after the Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay did not allow a No Confidence
motion moved by them. Later, the Congress and CPI(M) MLAs held a mock Assembly session outside the hall where Biswanath Chowdhury of RSP played the role of the Speaker.

The MLAs criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee "for her autocratic attitude and held her responsible for the failure of the government in each and every sphere."
Chatterjee said that the Opposition could have stayed inside the House to voice their demand.

"As the session was on, they should have stayed inside the House and voice their demands. What they did was an insult to the House."

Referring to the absence of the Opposition MLAs when the Jadavpur University Amendment Bill, 2017 was passed which empowers the university to appoint an pro-Vice
Chancellor, Chatterjee said: "The Congress and CPI(M) do not want that Jadavpur University to run smoothly."

Chatterjee said the Opposition was doing these things "just to remain in politics.
"What will happen when the media will no longer focus on them after May 30 when the Assembly session will be over."
