CID arrests fake doctor from Entally clinic

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a fake doctor from his Entally clinic in Central Kolkata on Friday night.

This is the first such case in which a fake doctor has been caught red-handed when he was practicing in a clinic in the heart of the city. Acting on a tip-off, CID officers conducted the raid and found one Naren Pandey in his chamber with "Dr Naren Pandey" written on a name plate on the door of his chamber in the clinic.

The doctor who had not even passed the MBBS examination had been prescribing allopathic medicines to patients for the past 10 years.

The CID officers took him to Bhawani Bhawan for further interrogation. The investigating officers have seized his visiting cards and other documents from his chamber. According to his visiting card, he claims himself to be an MD having some foreign degrees. In the card, he also mentions that he is attached with a well-known private hospital in South Kolkata. He has also confessed that he does not have an MBBS degree.

But he claimed that he had undergone some training and on the basis of which, he used to prescribe medicines to patients. The CID had initiated a probe on the basis of a complaint lodged with Bidhannagar South police station and came to know about fake doctor Naren Pandey. There is also a pathological lab in the clinic on Suresh Shankar Road at Entally where the doctor used to practice every day. According to an employee of the laboratory, at least five patients used to visit the doctor every day.
