The foolproof arrangement of Kolkata Police ensured all-round safety and security of the citizens during BJP's "march to Lalbazar" on Thursday.
The success mantra of Kolkata's cops comes at a time when senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh had challenged the former saying that all arrangements will be breached and the party workers would reach the city police's headquarters at Lalbazar uninterrupted.
Several policemen were injured as BJP supporters hurled bombs and pelted stones at the police without any provocation. But the police continued showing their patience and worked as per their plans which brought them success in dispersing the mob from the places where they were stopped from approaching ahead towards Lalbazar.
Though the agitators damaged some police vehicles and set the car of officer-in-charge of Hare Street police station on fire on B B Ganguly Street, they had failed to continue their agitation for a longer time in front of the police's "tactful" handling of the mob.
An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of the Kolkata Police — drone — was used to keep vigil on the movement of the BJP supporters.
The aerial view of the area was extremely helpful for the police to tackle the situation.
Moreover, aluminum security barricades were placed at all the points with robocops standing in front of the barricades at strategic locations.
Meanwhile, the step taken by the Kolkata Police to give jerseys with Press written on its front and back for mediapersons also helped the police a lot.
With the police making such arrangements, common people were not much inconvenienced as they were allowed to pass through most of the roads connecting Lalbazar even half-an-hour ahead of BJP's march to Lalbazar.
