Govt braces for Group D examination on May 20

The state government is taking all necessary steps to ensure a hassle-free environment for around 25 lakh job aspirants who will be appearing for the exam for Group D post of the state government on May 20. Around 6,000 will be recruited.
A high-level meeting was held in the state Secretariat in which the top brass of the state government including Chief Secretary Basudeb Bandyopadhyay, Home Secretary Malay De, Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purakayastha, Transport Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, chairman of the Group D recruitment Board and officials of Eastern and South Eastern Railways were present. The senior officials also held video conference with all the District Magistrates in this regard.
Adequate steps will be taken so that examinees can easily reach their respective examination centres without facing any inconvenience. There will also be adequate arrangements for transportation of the examinees.
Out of 25 lakh examinees, around 5.50 lakh will be coming from other states. Thirty five percent of the examinees are women. The examination will commence at 2.30 pm and will continue till 3.45 pm.
Instructions have been given to all the District Magistrates to take necessary steps so that examinees do not face any trouble reaching their examination centres. Stress has been given mainly on the transport facility. Besides private buses, additional state-run buses will be pressed into service on different routes.
Steps have also been taken so that examinees do not face trouble getting last mile connectivity vehicles like auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws to reach their destinations.
There will also be women police personnel near the examination centres as there are around 35 percent women examinees.
There will also be help desks set up at different places to assist the examinees.
The Railway authorities have also assured that all steps will be taken so that examinees can reach the examination centres on time.
