Actor Anindya's statement recorded

Police on Monday took the statement of actor Anindya Chatterjee in connection with the car accident in which celebrated model Sonika Chauhan was killed.

The investigating officers are taking statements of some common friends of both Bikram Chatterjee and Sonika to get answers to some questions mainly whether Bikram was in an inebriated state or not. The police had interrogated five of their friends on Monday. Sources said that they claimed Bikram's statement of not being drunk is false. Bikram held a press conference after being released from the private hospital off EM Bypass and claimed that he was not in an inebriated state while driving the car that night.

Incidentally, while giving statement to the police, his friends claimed that they had seen Bikram taking alcohol that night. Even video footages of that night have shown a glass of "alcohol" in the hand of Bikram, a police officer said.

It is learnt that during the interrogation of actor Anindya Chatterjee, the police have come to know that Bikram had taken alcohol. A senior police officer said that Bikram has been asked to turn up at Tollygunge police station at the earliest. The police have also come to know that Bikram had been shooting from Monday but he didn't turn up to the police station. He was even busy shooting on Tuesday as well.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officers from the Tollygunge police station has been formed to probe into the incident and the officers now want to question Bikram to verify the statements given by his friends. A day after common friends of actor Bikram and Sonika claimed that the former was in an inebriated state, forensic experts once again examined the ill-fated car that met with the accident and resulted to the death of Sonika.

The forensic experts had earlier collected samples from the car. But they felt the necessity of collecting certain more samples which are essential for the investigation. The forensic experts also had talks with the investigating officers of the case and they were also told about the statement given by Bikram and Sonika's friends.

Friends of Sonika have also raised questions that why Bikram had taken Sonika to a private hospital which is situated around 6 km away from the spot where the accident had taken place.
