Soon, state Power department to formulate transfer policy

The state Power department will soon formulate a transfer policy to make the process of transferring its employees smoother.

The decision was taken by the department to streamline the process by framing a uniform transfer policy for the departmental employees.

State Power department often receives transfer applications from employees working in various parts of the state. It becomes difficult for the department to address thousands of applications without a uniform policy.

It was learnt that after taking charge of the department, Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay had instructed senior officials to form a committee which would formulate a policy for the transfer of employees. Following the minister's instructions, the committee is all set to submit a report to the department to make necessary changes for implementing the recommendations of the report.

It is presumed that the draft of the policy will be completed within a month. After due scrutiny, the draft may be sent to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her approval.

One of the main reasons for formulating a uniform policy is to ensure that there is no favouritism in the transfer of employees and they are assigned posts through a transparent mechanism. It has been found that in most cases the reasons for transfer of the candidates are genuine.

Moreover, officials of the Power department indicated that age, experience, previous history of transfer, sincerity and diligence on the part of the employees will be among the things that will be considered while framing the new transfer norms.

The department will scrutinise all the applications and decide on the transfer of the applications considering the urgency. The committee may also recommend the department in this regard.
