Governor Tripathi stable, says medical bulletin

West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi is stated to be in a stable condition after a minor surgery was conducted on him on Sunday evening to stop bleeding from his nose.
The bleeding was from an artery in the nose and it had stopped after the surgery. He is now stable. There is no active bleeding. He will be kept under observation by a team of physicians — ENT surgeons, anaesthesiologist and an urologist — a nursing home official said.

The Governor has hypertension and diabetes, along with coronary artery disease and is on aspirin that causes blood thinning and increases bleeding tendencies, the medical bulletin said. The Governor will be kept under observation for 48 hours. The Governor had a sound sleep on Sunday night.

Tripathi was admitted to the Belle Vue Clinic on Sunday morning when he was profusely bleeding from his nose. The doctors in the hospital found that he had been suffering from Epistaxis which is acute hemorrhage from the nostril, nasal cavity, or nasopharynx.

They also felt that blood could not be stopped unless a surgery was conducted. He was kept in the ICU soon after his admission. A medical board had been set up for
his treatment.
