2 fake doctors working in state-run health centres arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two fake doctors who were employed in two state-run health centres in the North Bengal on the basis of the forged documents submitted by them.
Senior CID officials apprehend that more such fake doctors may be still practicing in various health centers. A probe is on to identify if there are any such doctors still practicing in government establishments. The arrested fake doctors have been identified as Khusinath Halder and Kaiser Alam. Khusinath was employed in Madarihat block primary health centre in Alipurduar while Kaiser had been employed in a block primary health centre in Chopra in North Dinajpur.

Police have seized two death certificates from the block medical officer's office issued by Alam. It was learnt that Kaiser had been employed in the health centre since September 2011. Police came to know that he used to issue death certificates and perform surgeries. Haldar was also employed in the same year. They have been booked under various charges of the Indian Penal Code including forging documents, criminal conspiracy. Police arrested Alam from his residence at Chopra Bazar in North Dinajpur district. He used to work for the National Health Mission. The CID officials have brought both the accused to Kolkata for interrogation.

The CID officials also came to know in the course of investigation that Alam had issued a death certificate in a road traffic accident case without conducting the post-mortem examination of the victim. The investigating officials also seized the attendance register of doctors where the accused used to work. It may be mentioned the CID officials started conducting raids at various districts of North Bengal including Jalpaiguri and Uttar Dinajpur after the state Health department had registered a complaint in the Electronic Complex police station regarding fake doctors' racket operating in the state.
