KMDA shuts down Jibanananda Setu for traffic till Sunday night

Kolkata: Jibanananda Setu, popularly known as Selimpur Bridge, has been closed for vehicular traffic due to repair work by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). The bridge will be closed till Sunday night.

According to police, Jibanananda Setu was supposed

to be closed from August 16 night to August 19 morning. As the weather condition in Kolkata deteriorated, the repair work could not commence last week.

Later, it was decided that the work will be done from Friday. During the repair work, the expansion joint will be replaced in order to strengthen the flyover.

As per the plan chalked out during the closure of Jibanananda Setu, buses of routes AC4A, AC4D, S4D, V9, ST6, 47B & S124 (Garia-Howrah Station) will be diverted from Avishikta crossing and will avail Ruby Crossing, Rashbehari Connector, Bijan Setu, Gariahat Crossing and Golpark to Jadavpur police station crossing.

Buses of routes 47B and S124 (Garia-Howrah Station) will be diverted from Jadavpur police station crossing towards Sulekha crossing to avail Sukanta Setu. State-run buses of routes AC4A, AC4D, S4D, V9 and ST6 will be diverted towards North on Gariahat Road South, to avail Dhakuria Bridge, Golpark, Gariahat and Bijan Setu to reach Ruby Crossing.
