Kolkata: Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has instructed for closure of all swimming clubs, cricket coaching centres, rowing clubs and other activities at Rabindra Sarovar and Subhas Sarovar until March 31.
The move comes as part of preventive measures aimed at social distancing and avoidance of gathering at these places.
"Both Rabindra Sarovar and Subhas Sarovar will remain open for morning walkers. But activities or events that are held inside the premises of the two waterbodies, particularly Rabindra Sarovar, have been suspended till March 31. This is meant to avoid any sort of gathering," a senior official of KMDA said.

The sports clubs, including cricket coaching camps at Vivekananda Park on Southern Avenue, have also been suspended.
"The young ones along with their parents turn up for various sporting activities and this result in a large gathering. KMDA has written to us urging us to avoid activities and we have abided by the same," an official in charge of a cricket coaching camp at Vivekananda Park said.
