KMC urges people to prevent water accumulation
Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation ( KMC) authorities have instructed the workers to talk politely convince the house owners or resident association who will not allow them to enter the premises to check the overhead tanks or underground reservoirs and accumulation of garbage in the premises.
The KMC is carrying out anti-larvae drive in all the 144 wards and senior officials felt that checking whether the overhead tanks and underground reservoirs are properly covered or not is essential to check spread of the disease. Moreover, in many premises the rain water pipes are clogged causing accumulation of water on the roof. As Dengue mosquitoes lay eggs on clear water covering the water tanks and reservoirs and keeping the roof dry should be followed meticulously.
The civic workers visited the sites where construction work is being carried out and requested the site in charge to clear the containers where water is stored at least once in a
week. More than 500 house owners have been issued notices asking them to clear the accumulated garbage from the campus.
Meanwhile, some residents of Golf Green have written to the civic authorities asking them to remove the vehicle that got damaged after a tree fell on it during Amphan.
The civic authorities have identified 31 wards which have been declared vulnerable and 26 bordering wards where intense anti Dengue drives have been launched. Special emphasis has been given on cleaning of garbage in these wards.
