KMC to go for makeshift changing rooms during Chhath at 4 ghats
KOLKATA: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will for the first time make arrangements for changing rooms at four ghats in the city during Chhath Puja this year.
The decision was taken in a preparatory meeting on Chhath Puja with all the stakeholders chaired by Municipal Commissioner Khalil Ahmed on Friday afternoon.
"The four ghats those will have such arrangements include Takta Ghat, Doi Ghat, Gwalior Ghat and Baje
Kadamtala Ghat which witness a huge number of people
every year performing Chhath rituals," a senior KMC
official present in the meeting said.
There will be supply of water for an additional hour in the morning of November 14, the day after Chhath Puja.
The Puja this year can
be performed in as many as 33 ghats in the city, where there will be all sorts of arrangements.
"There have been certain restrictions imposed by the National Green Tribunal in connection with the pollution check during the Puja. We will cater to the guidelines while making the arrangements," the official added.
