KMC spikes preventive steps to keep tab on COVID-19

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has directed its health officers to keep a hawk-eye on people in the city who have been advised to stay in isolation with symptoms of suspected novel Coronavirus.

Deputy mayor Atin Ghosh who is in charge of Kolkata Municipal Corporation's Health department held a meeting with senior officials of state Health department on Saturday to discuss on precautionary measures that need to be taken in this regard.

"Screening of people are going on at the city airport and also in the cross border areas. The reports are being

shared with our department. I have asked my health officers to monitor the health condition of any person who is advised to remain in isolation after the screening. The officers have been asked to share the person's status report with us so that we can stay in constant touch with the state Health department," Ghosh said.

Ghosh has asked his department officials to put up hoardings regarding do's and don't's circulated by the state Health department in all the Kolkata Municipal Corporation wards and borough health units. Officials have also been instructed to circulate the guidelines of the state government

among the common people in the city.

A meeting will be conducted by the borough executive health officers in their respective areas to apprise all officers and employees associated with health-related work about their respective duties in the wake of Coronavirus scare on Wednesday.

Rajya Sabha member Santanu Sen, who is also the councillor of ward 3 of KMC brought an adjournment motion on Coronavirus at the monthly meeting on Saturday.

The Kolkata Metro on Saturday also put up do's and don't's at all metro stations to cause awareness.
