KMC medical assistance to overcome respiratory distress

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has chalked out elaborate programme to handle patients suffering from breathing difficulties.

During winter, the number of patients suffering from acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis go up and they require immediate medication.

The Health wing of KMC has made elaborate arrangements to look after them.

Such patients have been given inhalers along with the spacer device collectively worth over Rs 600 free of cost.

The patients have been taught about the usage of the spacer devise so that the inhaler puffs, which they take are fully utilized. Patients often complaint that despite using inhalers they are unable to control attacks of bronchitis.

Taking the inhaler puffs through the spacer device help them overcome the problem.

It may be mentioned that KMC provides insulin to such patients free of cost.

KMC clinics are manned by trained doctors who are experts to treat all sorts of patients. Medicines are given here free of cost.

It may be mentioned that after coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made medical treatment in state-run hospitals free of cost.

Even costly treatments such as kidney ailment, chemotherapy and even heart transplantation are done free of cost. People from neighbouring states and countries come to the state-run hospitals to get treated. The state government has also issued Swasthya Sathi cards, which are given to the woman, who is the head of the family and her parent are also included in the scheme. This health scheme is unique in the country.

Following her footsteps the KMC has also set up urban clinics to treat patients.
