Kashi Mitra electric crematorium to be closed for repairs

Kolkata: Kashi Mitra electric crematorium will remain closed from August 19 to 27, according to a press release issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).

The shutdown has been necessitated following the urgent need to repair the electric furnace.

The crematorium will remain closed from 8 am on August 19 to 4 pm on August 27.

After coming to power in 2010, the Trinamool Congress has controlled the civic board, Sovan Chatterjee has upgraded all the electric crematoria and wooden pyres.

The crematorium premises have been improved and sitting rooms for the mourners have been constructed in all the crematoria.

The KMC issues two free death certificates to the next of kin of the deceased from the crematoria.
