Karna Bera produced before Kanthi court

Kolkata: Karna Bera, who attempted to flee by hurling bombs on Thursday, was produced before Kanthi Court on Friday amidst tight security.

It may be mentioned Karna had attempted to flee while being taken to the court on Thursday. He along with some of his close aides started hurling bombs to flee from the police custody. But his attempt failed as locals gheraoed him and he was later handed over to police.

Police initiated a fresh case in connection with Thursday's incident and he was being remanded to police custody when produced before the court on Friday.

Additional policemen were deployed around the court premises when Karna was produced to avoid any such untoward incident.

Three associates of Karna came on motorbike to the area near the court on Thursday to help him to flee.

Though Karna was caught by the police, three others managed to flee.

Police have initiated a search operation for three others. They carried out security check at different points. Cars and other vehicles were checked properly so that three of them cannot move out of East Midnapore district. Police also carried out proper check in the areas bordering with Odisha. Sources said the investigating officers have also questioned some people in this connection and conducted raids at various places but are yet to arrest any.
