JU proposes to build institutional relation with B'desh univs

kolkata: Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University (JU) Suranjan Das proposed to establish an institutional relationship between JU and various universities in Bangladesh to increase the scope of research in higher education.

The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission (Kolkata) Education and Sports Department Counsellor Riazul Islam and Indian Council for Cultural Relations Eastern Regional Director Minakshi Mishra had visited the university on Thursday. "In Jadavpur, there is an opportunity to study in engineering, arts, science as well as interdisciplinary branches. It would be good to make use of that opportunity to create research relations with the universities of Bangladesh. This year marks the centenary of Bangabandhu Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of India-Bangladesh diplomatic relations. As a result, I would be happy if academic exchange and institutional relations between the two countries are established around Jadavpur without delay," Das said.

Das added that in case of a common research plan between two countries, students will be benefited. "If students want to do research on any subject in Bangladesh, it is better if they propose it specifically. I will give all possible help at the administrative level if offered," he said. Counsellor Riazul Islam assured that an attempt will be made to start the process of government action on the matter quickly. A delegation led by the Dhaka University Research Society , which consisted of students and teachers from universities in Bangladesh also met with Das, deans of various branches and officers of the university.
