Jobs seekers kidnap duper, hand him over to police

Victim had allegedly taken huge sum of money by luring ‘kidnappers’ with jobs in Army

Kolkata: Six persons were arrested for allegedly abducting a man from Sunny Park in Ballygunge on Saturday afternoon. Police came to know that the abduction victim had taken a lot of money from the accused persons by promising them jobs in Indian Army.

The abducted man was arrested for alleged cheating.

According to sources, on Saturday afternoon, the victim, identified as Sashi Bhusan Dikshit, of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh was spotted having tea with a few other persons near Ballygunge Phanri.

Within a few minutes, local residents heard Dikshit screaming for help and saw the persons with whom he was having tea a while ago, were now forcing him to get into a white SUV.

Before anyone could react, Dikshit was dragged into the car and the accused persons drove fast to escape from the scene.

However, before they fled a local resident took a picture of the car.

After police arrived at the spot, the picture was shown to officials, who noted the registration number of the car. A message was sent across the city and the bordering police units of Kolkata.

The investigators used Transport department database to get hold of mobile number mentioned along with the details of the car's registration number.

The police tried to locate the mobile tower location of the number and found that the mobile was being used it in the Airport area.

Officials of Ballygunge police station contacted Airport police station and requested them to detain the accused person.

It was difficult for the police to make way as the officials had no names or pictures of the accused persons or the victim.

Wasting no time, the location was conveyed to Airport police station and a team from Ballygunge police station rushed to the airport.

The accused persons went to Airport police station along with Dikshit and told the police that they wanted to lodge a complaint.

While questioning, the Airport police station officials understood that they were same the people whom Ballygunge police were looking for. All of them were detained at the police station .

Later at night, a team from Ballygunge police station reached Airport police station and took charge of the six accused persons and Dikshit. They were brought to Ballygunge for interrogation.

The accused persons told the cops that Dikshit promised them jobs in the Indian Army and took Rs 10.5 lakh from them.

But neither he provided them jobs nor he returned the money.

The accused persons had planned to take him to the Airport police station as earlier they had handed him the money at the airport.

Later, another case was lodged against Dikshit and he was arrested.
