Jai Ho: 'Manusher Sathe' to be theme of Kolkata Police programme this year
Kolkata: This year, Kolkata Police's programme Jai ho is going to be based on the theme — "Manusher Sathe" (With People). Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to be present at the function which is due to be held on August 24 at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
It was after the change of guard in the state in 2011, Kolkata Police has been organising this programme, based on different themes, every year. "It may be recalled that the themes of the programme in 2016 and 2017 were "Safe Drive Save Life" and "Women Empowerment" respectively. It was in 2016, when the Chief Minister had launched the state wide — "Safe Drive Save Life"— campaign to bring down road accidents. Similarly, "Women Empowerment" was the theme in 2017 after the Chief Minister bagged the first prize in United Nations Public Service Award for Asia Pacific in the Netherlands for Kanyashree Prakalpa.
The programme will start at 5 pm on Friday and there will be performances based on the theme by both men and women police personnel. As many as 39 police personnel will put up a dance performance choreographed by Sudarshan.
The police personnel will depict the theme "Manusher Sathe" through their performances.
"Kolkata Police is always beside the citizens and rushes to extend their help. The performances will also depict how police always remain beside people," the officer said.
"Every aspect of the programme will be based on the theme — 'Manusher Sathe'," said a senior police officer adding that Tollywood actors will also be present and many will perform.
He added that the yearly recreational programme of Kolkata Police Jai Ho is one of the events in which family members of the city police's rank and file are invited to be a part of the extravaganza that continues for around 5 hours.
It may be mentioned that after coming to power, the Mamata Banerjee government has taken up several initiatives for the police personnel who relentlessly carry out their duty and take additional responsibilities during any festival in the state.
