IT employee dies after being hit by bus in Salt Lake

KOLKATA: An IT employee was killed after being mowed down by a school bus while riding his motorcycle with a pillion rider in Salt Lake.
Police said the victim, Amarnath Sharma used to work with an IT company in Salt Lake. He was a resident of Charu Market area. The accident took place when he was going to his office on Wednesday morning with one of his office colleagues.
When they were about to enter Sector V, a speeding bus hit the bike near Nabadiganta flyover.
While both of them received injuries on various parts of their body, Sharma injuries were critical.
Sharma was immediately rushed to a private
hospital in Salt Lake where there was a delay in admitting the patient.
According to police, the rear wheels of the speeding bus hit the motorcycle and as a result both the bikers fell on the road.
The person who was riding pillion survived as he received minor injuries.
The accident caused traffic congestion in the area in the busy hours.
It was alleged that the patient died due to excessive bleeding. The private hospital allegedly kept the patient outside the emergency ward. Despite repeated pleas, the hospital authorities did not take prompt action to admit the patient. He was declared dead when he was taken to the emergency ward of the hospital.
Police have started an investigation in this regard. They have seized the bus.
The investigators are looking into the CCTV footages for the sake of investigation. They have also recovered the bike which was damaged in the accident.
Police are conducting raids to nab the bus driver who has been at large since the accident took place.
