Initiative to inculcate reading habits in children

Kolkata: British Council in association with Reading Agency, UK, has brought Reading Challenge, which a reading adventure for children aged 5-11 years, to India.

The global challenge inspires children to read for pleasure. The theme of the challenge is Space Chase, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

The initiative will help them to improve their English, develop reading skills and instill confidence.

The six-week challenge, meant for children aged 5-11 years, will commence from November 4 in Kolkata.

The Reading Challenge will encourage the participating children to read 6 or more books n 6 weeks from a collection of handpicked books by the British Council.

The British Council will also organise multiple workshops for participants to help them improve reading skill and acquire storytelling and creative writing skills.

The Reading Challenge will culminate in a mega award ceremony where winners will be felicitated and awarded certificates. The British Council in Kolkata stays true to its promise of creating an unconventional space, which is safe and child-friendly.
