Initial post-mortem confirms Partha committed suicide

A team comprising forensic experts visited the flat of Partha De on Wednesday afternoon after the preliminary post-mortem report confirmed that he had committed suicide.

The forensic experts collected samples from the flat at Watgunge where his body was found on Tuesday.

Initially, the police couldn't ascertain that whether he committed suicide or died due to cardiac arrest as there were burn injuries on his legs. Though the preliminary post-mortem report suggested that he had committed suicide, the police are yet to ascertain the exact reason that forced him to take the extreme step.

A police officer said that the policemen from Watgunge police station had approached some of Partha's relatives to take his body as there was no one left in his own family. But no one was ready to take his body to perform the last rites.

Partha, who had spent months with his dead sister and skeletons of two dogs in a room, had tried to come out of the stigma. He did not want to get identified as Partha of the "skeleton case", said an official of Pavlov, who became close to him during his stay there.

He said that Partha turned to a trainer in the rehab centre for help within six months. He was sent to the rehab centre for treatment, but being a meritorious student, he picked up the lessons fast and even started to train others within just six months.

He used to say that he wanted to be "Partha" like before when everything was in place.

He had even expressed his wish to get married and to shift to a better house. He also had a wish to write a book. He always wanted to help others who were in pain.
